Cloudy morning that burned off by noon. High 70'ish but muggy. Lots of bugs & slugs on the trail. I'm a relatively early starter so was on the trail by 8:45. Only encountered others on the way down and everyone was unclear that they were on the right path to the falls and asked about it. The falls are a lovely payoff to the hike. Sadly, the trail is not one of my favorites. While the elevation gain is modest the trail is very rocky in some places and the trail notes don't indicate navigating 8-9 washouts (mostly dry but some a bit steep and slippery) before you get to the Marshall Creek one you actually need to ford. Also, the right onto the path to the falls just past this creek is not clearly marked. Another gracious hiker has marked it with a white plastic grocery bag but that is more easily seen if you miss the path, go on along the road and have to turn around. This path has many paths that can lead one astray. We found a few of them up and back and our 5 mile hike turned into 7. Glad we had some GPS help along the way.

Great hike for kids or beginners! There was quite a bit of mud on the trail. Waterproof footwear would be advisable. Otherwise no problems. Took my 6 year old and he was able to do the 5 miles with ease (plus a change of socks). The falls are a fantastic little gem. I'd love to come back when it's hot and take a dip. We had them all to ourselves this morning but did see quite a few parties as we were headed back to the car. We followed the instructions from the WTA.org hiking guide and we surely wouldn't have found the falls without them. There is no signage at all. Just over 3 hours from car to car. Decided to go for a short hike today. Trail is muddy in spots once off rd, but clear and easy enough. The falls were so beautiful. We did get a bit turned around as we didnt notice that we crossed the bridge, so we cont for awhile, then figured that we should have already crossed bridge, back tracked to bridge and started over.

We got to the trail around 10:30 am and began following the directions to the water fall. Sadly we got lost and a two hour hike turned into five hours. There was mud on the trails and the creek was hard to get around. We didn't see the trail that led to the water fall and ended up walking for a good 30-40minutes before turning back. Still had fun and would love to hike this trail again soon!

We hiked to Cherry Creek falls with our 15 month old daughter. The trail is perfect for packing a kid as it is pretty flat and open. The directions are important as you could easily get off course with many intersections and side trails. On the last leg you will cross a couple of streams and then hand a right and stay on the trail that runs along the creek. There were a few mud wholes along the way and creek crossings that were tricky. The falls were well worth the trek and the trail was not very busy so we had the falls to ourselves for a picnic lunch. Great hike with kids or dogs. Will check out the falls again in the summer when it is warm enough to take a swim. Great day and great hike.
