Sun in the skies, snow on the ground.

Had the parking lot, trail and the falls pretty much to myself. The walk to and fro the falls is beautiful, light snow on the lowlands. Trail was in great condition and nothing too icy. I went fully featured with my newly broken in microspikes but didn't really have to use them. Just having them in my backpack was a reassurance though. The path descending to the falls seemed wider than usual, probably due to the snow dusting camouflage. I just stayed in the middle path of the trail.

A short and sweet trip to get in before work, after work or a lunch break in between if you are in/near the area.

Trailhead: Red Town Trailhead has 2 privies (clean), paper maps of trails (atleast there were there today) and a picnic bench if anyone to start their adventures by taking a bite first. Taking a map if available is always recommended as the park is humongous and trails in huge numbers and can get confusing. Parking tends to fill up quickly as was the case today.

Trail: Straightforward, mostly wide, narrows as you go the last 0.5 miles descent to the falls. The trail was neither muddy nor icy today. The sun shone through the tall trees.

There are several trails one can take to get to the falls. A fellow hiker I met at the falls said she had come down the "Quarry trail" which in her experience made for a slightly more intense trip if that's what one is looking for. I only had the guidelines in WTA and concur with the ease rating on the prescribed route on the website.

The falls were just like every time I've visited them. Beautiful.

Bear and I went on this quick hike, and the end was beautiful. I did this hike before work and it was enough to make me happy and easy enough that I could go to a 8 hour shift.

The parking lot did fill up quickly but if you were comfortable backing or parallel   Parking you are fine. Also, if youre hiking with a dog, The gravel trail at the start and end was great to get some of the mud off.

We went on a very sunny day, which was awesome since it back lit all the moss growing on the trees.Trail is very well maintained. There are a few posts with some information and history about the trail. Hiking shoes are suggested since there are muddy patches.

We did almost 7 miles today in the cougar mountain area! What a lovely place to roam. Having a paper map was super helpful. The trail was muddy in places, but nothing challenging. Coal creek falls are really lovely, as were the other two waterfalls we stopped by. It wasn’t very crowded today, especially the further in we got, though the lot was almost full by 10am.
