I started from the opposite end of Red Town. So there was more of an uphill going from the opposite end towards Red Town. Backtracking from Redtown to my starting point was a breeze since it was just going downhill.

Hiked
Beware of: bugs, road & trail conditions

The hike our team has done was a long hour all-around type of day hike. Meanwhile the hike was worthwhile, but Cougar Mountain Trails in general don't seem be enjoyable during summer for all the creeks have dried out and the mosquitoes are pretty annoying. There were few to none view points, however the clay-pit is one of the more enjoyable experience. The mine shaft of the coal creek mine seem to be a safety hazard, the space between the welded-together steel bar is wide and can be a problem to younger children.

This was a very relaxed hike with lots of runners on the trail. What was nice is all of the other off-shooting trails. My hiking buddy and I got lost trying to get to this trail quite a few times but it was nice since the usual route is so short. When we got to the falls it was more like some wet rocks, very little water flow which was somewhat disappointing.

The falls are quite dry right now. It was a nice walk through the forest but nothing special.
