Hiked today with my four legged companion. Arrived at the Red Town Trailhead at around 10am and there were only a couple of cars there. Decided to make it a loop and hiked up via Redtown trail to Coal Creek Falls trail and back via the Quarry trail with a stop in the new meadow before coming back along the Indian trail and Red Town trail back to the car. Took me about an hour walking at a reasonable pace. Only saw one other group whilst on the trail, but as I returned to the car park, there were more groups heading out. Great morning hike!

A fun little day hike with dogs - chosen because of the length, proximity to home, and the fact that dogs were allowed. The first 1.5 miles is a steady incline and then the turn off to the 'falls' is relatively flat. There are some roots and rocks on that trail to beware of. The creek and falls are dried up due to the drought we are in - but I will definitely go back during the rainy season because I bet it is really pretty. For a day hike, get a little exercise and hike with a dog - it's a good spot.

Took the path across the main road from the parking area, and was in the shaded trees most of the time. Reminded me of the ravines behind my parents house where I grew up. Beautiful tree canopies, and a few points of interest; dark cavern area and a water fall. The main creek that ran down the bottom of the ravine was mostly dry but would be very pretty earlier in the year. Pretty easy hike, more like a nice nature walk. Not too many ups and downs and not one direction more difficult than the other. Halfway point prior to heading back was at the YMCA. Sat on their shaded benches and ate lunch/snack then discretely used their bathrooms before heading back. If the upper parking lot is full, the YMCA parking lot would be a good alternative-plenty of it and they don't seem to regulate it.

The falls were dry but it was still worth the walk.
