Excellent hike, highly recommend it. We did a loop going up through Cave Hole trail to the Coal Creek falls cutoff. The intial rise was easy but is a good 20 minute workout. Several ups and downs. The forest is very green and full of life. The tent caterpillars were out in droves but are actually quite interesting, I got a few good macro shots of them swarming around a small log. The falls were still running pretty good, I understand from other posts they drop to a trickle in the summer. We went back down on the Quarry trail and finished up on Wildside. Again more emerald green vegetaion. The temperture was about 60 and it was cloudy until th end, then the sun came streaming through and highlighted patches of the forest. Really a perfect day in my book fo this hike.

This was a 3 mile loop though Cougar Mt. Park. Flowers were beginning to bloom including phlox, cinquefoil and lupine (on road to trail head). Forest is in full spring green and quite lovely to walk through. The trails are a bit muddy with heavy mud in some stretches but no real difficulties. The falls are running well with all the rain and saw a couple at the top of the falls with their dogs. Access was via a steep but short trail on the north side of the Coal Creek Falls. Some brief showers but otherwise a dry hike.

Drizzle but not rain. Falls were small. Driving Directions are quite poor: ..... After crossing "The Pass" and starting down, cross Coal Creek and find the trailhead on the east side of the road at a sharp bend in Newcastle-Coal Creek Road. Better would be http://www.kingcounty.gov/recreation/parks/trails/backcountry/cougar_trails.aspx Specifically the Red Town Trailhead.

Did a quick morning loop with a friend. The falls is still going! It wasn't too busy in the morning but when heading back to the car the parking lot was packed.

The hike was nice, a steady increase in elevation until the turn off for Coal Creek Falls, then it was a switchback. At the falls there was a lot of mud and uneven terrain but it was a beautiful day and a beautiful hike. The old mine holes were cool to see.
