Beautiful day for a hike. The trail wasn't bad except for a few muddy spots, which were fairly easy to get around. This was an easier hike that kids can do as well. We passed a Cub Scout group having a great time enjoying the outdoors. There are lots of great photo ops along the trail as well. Enjoyed this hike very much.

Great easy day hike - doing the primrose trail side loop (which takes you past Sandstone Falls) is worthwhile, though a little muddy, and takes the hike to an even 6 miles. Much of the hike is beauty barked or graveled, but some parts are pretty muddy (but nothing you can't handle in trail running shoes). There are little side trails that circumvent the worst of the mud if you look for them, and some pretty impressive bridges for a small pedestrian only hike. There are some cool remnants of mining operations along the trail, including an old coal mineshaft, and at the Red Town trailhead (can be the start/end or halfway point depending on where you start) you can find the ruins of the old Newcastle Hotel boiler room. Definitely would recommend as a trail-running option, or an easy day hike (I did it after work, and it was perfect). 8/10

Nice little hike right in town, kind of felt like the middle of nowhere. Great hike with dog, sand everyone picks up after their dogs--didn't see any dog poop anywhere. The trail had a few spots that were pretty muddy and therefore a little slippery, but overall was very well maintained. The directions for parking on 60th street were not the best place to park to get to the trail. There is a small parking area on Coal Creek road before you get to 60th street, it'd be a left turn. The trail takes off up the creek from there. Definitely a little gem right in the city.

Amazed to find this trail in the middle of Bellevue. Little over 6 miles round trip, great scenery, on a very well maintained trail. Great for kids and dogs, and the city obviously spends a lot of time on the trail itself, was immaculate. Not much elevation change at all, some cool old mining stuff, nice spot for lunch next to Coal Creek Falls. Beautiful walk along the creek most of the way, and lots of forest and open meadow. Crowds were light, but the parking lots are very very small (one of them honly holds 3 cars). And it was surprisingly quiet most of the way considering how close to town it is. A gem of a trail though considering it's in the middle of the city. Perfect morning stroll.
