It was unusually quiet on this overcast Sunday. Initially few hikers, later, in the afternoon, more. Hardly a bird, few wildflowers left, mostly spring beauty. The only remarkable aspect of our little hike were two piles of scat placed conspicuously on the trail. The color of the poo was dark purple, and it consisted mostly of berries. That leaves BEAR as the culprit.
This is the first time in 15 years and many hikes on Cougar Mountain that we have seen bear scat. The WILD in the park's name seems well justified.
Arrived around 11:30 am and the trails weren't to crowded. There were many families on the trail and it is a hike for people of all ages. The weather was nice it was partly cloudy and in the mid 60s. The trail was in good condition and had good signage. Parking was easily available and is in a gravel lot. Hike is located off a paved road and is easy to get to. There was some mud and a few branches on the trails but nothing to bad. There are plenty of wildflowers blooming and the hike was very pretty. However there are a lot of bugs flying around so just keep that in mind before you go.

Quick stroll to the waterfall from Sky Country Trailhead (not as popular as hiking from Red Town Trailhead, but it’s a little bit faster with less uphill).
The waterfall is nice, there’s a nice flow going with all the rain we’ve got. There’s a good amount of bugs around the falls so bring bug spray!
The highlight for me was the amount of wildflowers and wildlife out there. We saw blooming trilliums, pacific violets, bleeding hearts, and more. We also spotted a woodpecker and deer. Lots of mushrooms and fungi activity too!
