2 miles round trip (could go further if you want)

2pm start hike from Wilridge Winery
2:20pm reached the valley bridge on the canyon floor.
2:30pm reached a look out point on the upland trail - only .25 miles from the valley (didn't go all the way up).
3pm left the upland area
4pm got back to the winery for wine tasting

Notes/tips: Definitely go in May or June, the weather was great. I could see it getting really dusty in July or August. Bring bug spray and water, full exposure to the sun. Nice biking trail. Restroom & free parking at the winery. $5 discount if you do the hike and buy a wine bottle.

Definitely recommend staying at the Wilridge Winery Air BnB and then doing the hike!

We walked from the Cowiche Canyon Road parking lot to the Weikel Road parking lot and back. The wildflowers are just starting. It was a beautiful morning to walk the trail. Caution: We saw a good size rattlesnake. We heard the rattle next to us and it was in the brush right next to the trail. We were able to see it very clearly, but I wasn't able to take a picture of it. (I was too scared to take my eyes off it!) We saw quite a few trees beginning to blossom and lots of lush green canyon walls. We were entertained by a couple of Marmots near the end of the hike.

Directions to the trail via WTA will get you to the trailhead. Lots of wildflowers in bloom. The first mile, the Cowiche Canyon Conservatory has tags out to identify native plants.

A perfect time of year for the high desert! Glorious blue skies and perfect temperatures greeted us and the flowers might just be getting started. The balsamroot is out and wonderful. The aspens are just starting to get leaves. Trail is in fine shape. We saw two small snakes (neither wanted anything to do with us) and, when we hit the vineyard spur, two marmots. Plenty of birds around, including extremely big hawks. Clean port-o-potties at both primary trailheads, as well. We did end up with some sunburn, a reminder that the hike is pretty well exposed. That said, while the weather is this way, it’s a great time to go. And leave some room in the pack for wine to take home!
