Awesome day hike yesterday. Encountered great biodiversity including tons of chokecherry and northern mules ear. We walked the length of the trail, coming from the east trailhead. On the way back, we hiked the extra .8 miles to the winery for a bottle and picnic lunch. Be aware that the vineyard trail has a decent elevation gain and may not be ideal for older dogs, hot and tired from 6 miles in the sun. Nonetheless a great trek, just look out for rattlesnakes!

The trail was in excellent condition. There were quite a few snakes sunning themselves on the path, so just be aware.

Great time to take a walk along the river in the canyon.  Lots of flowers blooming.   Lupine is on its way soon.  I'd imagine it would be very hot hiking in the summer so now is a great time to go.  We hiked a bit beyond the winery trail, but not all the way to the end.  Saw only one rattlesnake slither off the trail, so they're out and about.  Lots of birds too.  I'd like to come back and check it out in the fall.

Lovely trip through Cowiche Canyon with friends visiting from Alaska! Beautiful wildflowers and lots of sun although it was also very windy. Enjoyed our picnic at the winery with a bottle of wine. :-) Wonderful day!

We didn't follow the advice of other trip reports, unfortunately, and ended up at the east entrance. The signs warn of break-ins so we didn't want to leave the car and our gear for too long. We hiked up to the winery and back and enjoyed some good views. Wondering if this furry critter is a nutria/river rat or a marmot . . .
