Beware of: road, snow & trail conditions

Writing this report because the most recent one for this trail is from December, and accessibility has worsened. We tried to hike this today, but we didn't even make it all the way to the end of the road. Some combination of chains, AWD, or a high-clearance vehicle is needed to even get through to the parking area given the depth of the snow. Given that the trailhead is surrounded by private property, we chose to not leave the car sitting in the middle of the snow. I'll have to check this out when conditions improve.

Drove from Seattle for a day hike. Friend drove her Subaru Outback and her car slipped a little but otherwise was fine. We were able to park in the parking lot, but I think this would have been a lot more difficult/impossible without a four wheel drive or chains. The trail is completely covered in snow, but is a bit padded down from previous snow shoers and cross country skiers. Microspikes were helpful but my awesome friend let me borrow her spikes and did the whole trail with just her hiking boots. Completed the hike in 3 hours with frequent breaks to take photos. Enjoy some of the photos below!

I took a late afternoon walk today on the Cowiche Canyon Uplands to photograph the last light of 2016 on the landscape. The trails are a little icy, but I did fine without Yak-Traks. It was clear, but not too cold. Here's a couple of photos. Happy New Year!

Easy hike. Perfect for an afternoon walk. A little slippery in the shaded areas.

Great hike for all skills levels. There is snow which is really easy to pass, however it can get a little slippery when going down, so be careful. We spotted some owls near the parking lot. Our destination was the vineyard, but unfortunately the tasting room was closed.
