After dropping the dogs for a haircut we went on the East side of Cowiche Canyon and hike to the rock slide. Trail was great and even though we have had a lot of rain there was no problem. For me it was harder coming in on this side because of the path was a little more up and down (not bad) but I have a very bad knee. It took us over 2 hours. We saw only one other person hiking today. Now to rest my knee....

Virgil and I went on a hike through the Cowiche Canyon today. Made it to Bridge 6 and then to where the rock fall. Since I was getting pretty wore out decided we wouldn't try to go through the rocky area... Took us about 1 1/2 hour, so we know that I am moving a little bit faster.... We didn't start till 3:30 and was surprised how many people were walking, running and riding bicycle . Fall color are going to be gone soon. Next time we will start on the east side and go to the rock slide area.....

I took another walk in Cowiche Canyon this afternoon, this time from the east end. The fall color is at its peak and was beautiful in the nice diffuse light. It will be good for at least another week or two. Catch it while you can!

Ethan & I took a morning walk on the Cowiche Canyon Trail on this partly sunny, breezy day. We started at the west end and hiked down to the abutments for the destroyed bridge #10 & back. The fall color is starting to peak and should be good for the next couple of weeks. There were quite a few other hikers out today, especially families. The breeze made photography a little difficult, but the color sure was nice.

I hiked this on my way out of town on a week long adventure to Bend, Oregon. It was a great way to stretch the legs and see the desert. If I lived in Yakima I could see myself doing this hike a lot. It is more like a walk but since I had my pack on I consider it a hike. The fall colors were great. The canyon walls are amazing. I really enjoyed this hike and I can imagine in wildflower season it is just as stunning.
