4-mile clockwise loop, starting from the south parking lot.
Trail Conditions. Some slightly muddy patches, no obstacles.
Highlights. Watched a sailing regatta pass by West Point, and spotted one Steller sea lion in the water. First salmonberry in bloom!
Crowds. Busy, but plenty of space in the overflow lot at 11am.

No bugs yet, the trail was a little muddy in spots, but covered well in the trees. Only saw a few others on the trail between 1p.m. and 3 p.m. We walked to the shoreline and saw a seal, a sea lion and lots of antique aircraft overhead.
Trails in good shape, a few loose steps on the stairs leading to the shore behind the water treatment plant. Will take friends/family from out of town here again.
Hiked around Discovery Park as part of an REI Experience course. It was super windy, but there were plenty of folks and dogs out on the trails. The parking lot wasn't too crowded when I got there at 10 a.m. but had filled up quite a bit by 2 p.m. The trail was in good condition (not muddy even after recent rains) and was clearly marked on our maps. The restroom near the north parking lot was open for the season, but the one nearer the water was not.

Beautiful sunset stroll today. Got to the south parking lot around 3:30 — unsurprisingly, the parking lot was totally full. Trails were overall in good shape, just a little muddy in some places.
The tide was low so we could explore more of the beach. Got to see some parts of the beach I'd never seen before!
