No problems with trail.  Snow and ice free.  I did a double today.  Summit trail was muddy, as usual, for this time of year.  Enjoyed Gail force wind and fog spray.  Fun day for me, but any day on a trail usually brings me some pleasure.  Go enjoy Dog Mountain!

Was a beautiful day for a hike! Cold enough to battle how hot you get from climbing up the kinda difficult hill. We took the difficult route instead of the more difficult....it was easier

My companion and I encountered rain, snow, hail, and at least 40 mile an hour winds (we struggled to stay standing in certain spots.) Overall it was fun day sliding in the mud and playing in the rain on Dog Mountain... even if the view was covered with fog and clouds.

Beware of: trail conditions

Looking for a spot to #OptOutside while visiting my mom in Portland that would give me some good elevation gain, perhaps some views if the weather cooperated and a little variation of I decided to do some repeats.

Well, two out of three isn't bad!  I did three trips up the mountain using different variations of the "Difficult" and "More Difficult" trails.  Unfortunately the weather didn't really cooperate as the ridgeline felt a bit more like the summit of Adams then just above the Gorge.  But the velvety trails more than made up for it and I enjoyed myself immensely.

Only obstacles are two downed trees over the easier trail and one small one on the harder trail.  Despite the recent precipitation the trails weren't very muddy either.

Took the easier of the Dog Mountain trails up and then over to Augspurger Mountain and back on the Augspurger Trail to the TH.

Four trees down across the Dog Mt Trail but otherwise the tread was good. Surprisingly, not too muddy given the rain. Some intermittent snow on the trail about 0.5 miles before the Augspurger summit plaque. Only 10 cars in the lot.
