Beautiful hike that winds through different forested areas and little waterfalls. Pacific rhododendron is blooming! Beautiful pink flowers. Lots of trilliums. We saw an elk herd grazing in the huckleberries and snowberries at the very beginning of the trail. Lovely hike and less popular, which is ideal. I will definitely be doing this hike again :) For us, it took about 2 hours to do the maple valley to steam donkey trail.

Super well kept, a few bridges but none that felt unstable. Keep an eye out for newts on the trail, we ran into 3+.

Trail was somewhat wet from previous days rains and rain throughout the week. But nothing that is going to soak your boots through. Beautiful creeks and waterfalls, mushrooms, and perfect late December hike for the dogs.

Not surprisingly, it was wet!! Particularly on the steam donkey side, we were hiking in running water at times up to our ankles, and generally unavoidable. It’s pretty, but be prepared.
