We've passed by this trail for years and finally checked it out, enjoying a pre-dinner stroll on the 3.5 mile Steam Donkey Trail. The campground was full and active with people preparing dinner, kids racing about on bikes, etc. all of which we left behind as soon as we started down the trail. Encountered no other hikers.
It's an easy walk with some up and down, and the trail is in good condition. The creeks were dry, so I've put this walk on my list for the spring. I loved the strategically placed benches along the trail, from which you can contemplate the forest. I thought this would be a nice spot for morning coffee. If you happen to be passing by and want to stretch your legs, it's a fine choice.
