On our way up to benson plateau I discovered a canon camera hidden behind a tree. It was located about 4 miles from the car parking lot. If you list a camera and match the person in the photos on the camera I will give it back to you. Please text me at (503) 877-7544

Photos do not do this place justice. We got to the Trailhead at about 8:15 AM and managed to get one of the last spots along the road between the actual trailhead lot and the day use area parking lot. As this was on National Get Outdoors Day (fee-free), it may have been busier than usual, but getting there earlier is probably better. Though the entire trail is pretty popular, it definitely gets quieter after Punch Bowl Falls. There are plenty of places along the trail to take breaks, and pretty much everyone that made it to Twister Falls ate lunch on the rocks there. Even though it's summer, I would recommend bringing a jacket or extra layer--the wind through the canyon really cools you down once you stop moving. I would also recommend a hat and sun protection--after a morning of cool shade the entire way in, our return trip was almost entirely exposed to the sun, due to a) being on cliff faces most of the time, and b) the lack of overhead foliage due to the forest fires. I also might have appreciated a trekking pole in some parts, particularly when crossing the rock scrambles, but I managed fine without any. Overall, it was a beautiful hike with great views, beautiful foliage, and lots of interesting rock faces. 10/10 highly recommend.

We hiked Eagle Creek to High Bridge today. The close up parking lot was 3/4 full when we pulled in at 9:30. The Porta Potties were clean and had supplies. It was in the low 50’s with partially cloudy skies when we headed up the trail. This was a first time visit to Eagle Creek and lived up to expectations. Even though the forest had been ravaged by forest fires a few years past the whole ecosystem was alive and vibrant green amongst the basalt rock faces. Bird song and alerting chipmunks could be heard through our hike. A female deer was grazing on the hillside near punch bowl falls. If you looked up eagle nests were spotted on several burnt tree tops. The entire trail was wet hard packed soil with lots of chunked rock sections. Wildflowers were in bloom the whole way, we saw wild rose, monkey flower, stinky bob, columbine, arnica, larkspur, goat’s beard, Solomon seal, fringe cup, honeysuckle and more. There were several fern grotto areas as well. Trail traffic was moderate and all users found safe places to allow others to pass. A couple times rainfall was hard enough for us to put in rain shells and packet covers. The skies cleared when we made it back to the trailhead at 2:30. Another fantastic day out in nature with friends.

We have not been to Eagle Creek in the Spring for a while and it was lovely.
Such a wonderful variety of wildflowers to be seen along this trail along with the always-spectacular creek and waterfalls views.
We arrived at about 7:00am to about 14 vehicles. We used the outhouse at the larger lot by the fish hatchery which was a good call.
We easily found parking near the trailhead and headed on our way. We stopped at a vacant campsite along the creek for our 9am "lunch" and then continued to Tunnel then Twister falls. There were a few people taking a break just past Twister. We continued a bit further and stopped along the creek for a snack break, another good call as it was pretty crowded by Twister when passed by on the return (people were basically sitting on the trail).
Other than a few congested spots on the return trip, a creek crossing or a lookout point, people were well dispersed, and it didn't feel crowded.
We returned to a full parking lot around 12:30p. We hurried to leave so a waiting vehicle could take our spot. Now there was a line for the outhouse so we utilized the one nearer the hatchery again. *Tip to the wise, and a good call again, by my other half.
The starting temp was 55 degrees, under cloudy skies. Very nice for a long walk. The sun was breaking thru on the return lighting up the creek, making for pretty water. There was a breeze that kept it from getting too warm, so conditions continued to be near perfect for us.
It's a rocky hike for the most part, with little in way of breaks from uneven ground but as always, the views are worth it.
