This trail is very easy to get to and there is a very large parking area. Easy and popular trail. It was absolutely bustling with families and little kids.
The very end down to the big waterfall is the hardest part. Another slight challenge is the trail is rather narrow much of the time given the amount of people that are on it.

First time to Franklin Falls and we loved it! Mid day hike, easy with the well maintained pathways and stairs. He scenic views of the river were quite lovely! Only saw 1 dog bag at the trail head (someone previously mentioned this) and two water bottles left (one down a cliff side and one at the falls basin). Wanted to note the first two foot bridges you cross have a 7.5 women’s foot sized hole in them, so be aware if limited mobility. Most of the passerby were using great hiking etiquette and moving to single file or to the side of the trail when necessary. The basin was delightful to reach, enjoy the spray cooldown and eat lunch with plenty of room for others to enjoy the space! Highly recommend. Other thing to note: my gps took me to West Summit (only to find a closed road). So definitely take exit 47. And the parking lot was quite empty!
Good for starters. Around 150 cars were parked near the entry point. There were lots of pets doing the trail with us. A small portion near the falls is very narrow and gets difficult when we have people from both directions coming in. Trail shoes are must - the place near the falls is rocky. Could see elderly people walking as well.

I arrived to a mostly empty parking lot around 9:15. The trail was in excellent condition, and their were no mosquitos. I saw about 35 people and 3 dogs besides my own on my hike, and everyone had their dog leashed, which was great to see.
I left around 10:40, and the parking lot was still pretty empty, but there were some larger groups (10+ with kids) walking the trailhead as I was leaving.
