Beautiful and well maintained trail, got there at 11:30am, plenty of parking spots.

Short trail with a couple of waterfalls and a beautiful river at the very beginning.

We found a little path to go down to the first waterfall and it was beautiful but super cold.

The water was just beautiful, and probably without stop this can be an hour walk

Love this trail! There is plenty of parking and bathrooms near the parking lot. Keep an eye out for the correct trail - it goes off to the right after the pavement. I accidentally kept going straight and had to turn around.

No bugs! and there was no one on this trail when i hiked it!

I have hiked this a few times in the past but only ever in the winter! Seeing this trail without snow was like hiking it for the first time.

This is a very popular trail and crowds should be expected. There are large parking lots equipped with an electronic paystation in case you forget your NW forest pass (credit card accepted!) as well as a bathroom. We arrived just before 11am and the parking lot was mostly full, but we were lucky enough to find a space quickly anyway.

The trail is well-defined and well-kept. It's a mostly dirt/gravel trail with few rocks and roots, nothing too crazy. There are several sections of the trail that are stepped.

As you approach the falls the trail does get a little trickier as the trail narrows and is mostly (wet) rock, and then you have to walk down some long/wide flat (wet) slabs of rock to get down to the riverbed as well. I was able to walk down it while carrying my 3 year old with some care.

Once down in the riverbed, the waterfall is an awesome view as always. Bring an extra layer for the littles as its full of cool mist down here. We found a rock for each kid to sit on to eat lunch while taking in the view. There is definitely more space to spread out when the river is completely covered in snow vs summertime.

After lunch we headed back up the slick rocks to the trail. There are several little spots to stop and enjoy the river along the trail so we made sure to stop at one before we left so the kids could play.

The whole trail is lined with salmonberry and blueberry bushes but it's so busy here they are all picked over. I did manage to find an untouched blueberry bush by our little river play area so we picked a couple of handfuls to enjoy. They were still tart but sweeter than salmonberries.

My son really complained about the cold and mist down by the waterfall but once we were away from it he wanted to go back, and said to put this hike on the do-again list. So it must have not been too bad for him :) I told him we definitely need to come back in the winter too (Although I think now it requires a snopark pass... didn't last time I was here/before kids).

I am doing the 52 hike challenge with my kids this year and these are our current stats on week 26... we are officially at the halfway mark for the year!

Me: 28
David(5): 27
Holly(3): 22 (gonna try my best to get her caught up!)

Nice and easy hike for a day trip with kids, very beautiful fall. be careful with kids towards the end of the trail and close to the fall since the trail gets rocky and narrow especially if you are not wearing hiking shoes. Highly recommended for family and short hikes. lots of parking as well.
