FRI 06Dec2019 morning, chilly ~50s_F, Swee and i arrived at the Garfield Ledges Trailhead parking at ~10:00 - there were 4 vehicles parked and we noticed 3 parties picnicking along the river. On our way out/up to Garfield Ledges, we encountered a family of 4; 2x adults and 2x children coming down. The Trail is well maintained (R/T ~2+ miles). Its short steady incline gave us a good workout. And the views at the top were lovely: the river, valley and mountains. The forest are lovely too!

Beware of: road conditions

Having helped to build this trail, I've never actually hiked it, until today that is!

The Middle Fork road had a few tree branches down, and the one tree that was half way across the road just before Mail Box Peak was being removed by some kind people who were getting what looked like some firewood.

Right after the Pratt River Bar parking area the snow started to stick to the road, not to much, but enough to make you want to slow down. We were amazed at how many people were at the parking lot for Garfield Ledges/ Snoqualmie Lake trails. The trails itself is in great condition, a few little issues that have already been flagged to be fixed (adding in drains). There is a section of 39 stairs that are short and steep, but that's the only way the trail could get up the rock that is there. Right away you'll see the next set of stairs, also short and steep I do believe I counted like 20 something stairs there. Once you are at the top of these stairs, there is one more switch back and then you are at the end of the trail. The last switch back is exposed, so being snowy, it was the only real spot on the trail that was snow covered, and being rocky it was a little slick right in through there. My mom tried out some micro spikes on that section and it seemed a lot easier than without them. The ledge is pretty good, although keep back from the edge of it as the sign says. The rocks at the top are slick when wet (DUH!). The view was really pretty even with clouds and snow coming down.

Being a short 1.2 mile trail it's a great trail for families to go on, through old growth trees (some still have springboard spots visible in them). This trail will probably see a lot of use as more and more people start using it and spreading the word.

Until next time- Happy Trails!

Great trail up to the ledge and a nice hike for kids and families. My 12 year old son and I started at 2:25 pm and were at the Ledges at 2:55 pm, so not to long of a hike for kids. Trail is well built and even has one section with some well built steps. Most of the hikers out on this trail today were with kids, just like us. We headed down after checking out the views and were back at the car at 3:25. Short and sweet hike with no complaints.

Wow! This might be my new favorite local trail. The beautiful climb through the trees was easy and quick. We hiked with two adults, three kids (ages 7, 9, & 10), and two dogs. Everyone loved it, and the views were stunning. The trail is in fantastic shape. There was one short muddy stretch, but otherwise the trail was just damp, which was impressive the day after rain (and in 42 degree weather). We started at 2:00 PM and only ran into one party on the trail. The trail was snow-free, but there were some patches off to the side with a light dusting—enough for the kids to make a couple of snowballs. When word gets out about this hike, it will certainly become a destination trail. Get there to check it out before everyone else discovers it!
