Since two of the three in our party were old and with some of the handicaps that come with aging, we made our first visit to Gold Creek--a good choice for those of us with walking issues.  Our youngest member led us around the area on a beautiful day to be outdoors.  Lots of families with kids and some friendly dogs as well.  A link to my photos from this hike is below.

We were looking for a picnic area with a nice view and this pond was perfect! We had our lunch there and then did the loop around the pond. The loop was very well maintained and easy.

The only thing to watch out for was the road. There were some potholes, but still drivable in low speed.

This is a wonderful, accessible hike.  The route is flat and passable. I would recommend this to anyone

Picnic Lunch here today. Was pleasantly surprised to see several families and kids unwinding and doing the same. Beautiful day, not too sunny or cloudy. Shimmering Lake in many shades of blue and green as one goes around the lake. Some deep potholes on the road to the trailhead, but passable. Happy trails!

Beware of: road conditions

Arrived shortly after midday on a hot Saturday with clear skies. Unsurprisingly the parking lot was pretty much full. The short road that leads up to the parking lot is gravel, and has quite a lot of pot holes, but nothing insurmountable.

I've visited Gold Creek Pond numerous times in winter, when it is beneath a blanket of snow, but never before in summer. It is still just as scenic as always, and well worth the visit.

We went clockwise around the lake (seems bigger than a "pond" to me!). The first half of the loop was much shadier. About three-quarters of the way around, on the east side, it was shady enough that there were still some patches of snow, though they're probably long-gone by the time I've written this trip report.

The tiny beach where the creek enters the lake at the north-east side is worth a visit. The bright sun sparkles on the shallow water, dimpled with pebbles.

Keep an eye out for the Trillium too, there are many on the east side of the lake near the (probably long-gone) snow.
