I don't understand why peeps seem to avoid this trail. Just because it's only a mile loop or maybe because it's ADA or something. The Gold Creek Pond Trail never ceases to deliver. And deliver as well as (and often times better than) many other major treks. There are not many trails that are so overrun with bloomage as this one. You'll be hard pressed to find better bang-for-the-buck for a scenic trail. Next time you're passing by Hyak, give it a try. It's just a skip off the freeway and it's the easiest one mile you'll ever go for so much beauty.

We arrived about 10:30 this morning, only a few cars in the parking lot. A lot more arrived by noon. This is a hike we have made many times before, as it is great for kids, and also has a nice picnic area. The only problem was the aggressive mosquitos! We might have turned back except a family was kind enough to loan us some mosquito repellent. We also saw a snake. Not sure what kind, but he was small, maybe a foot long and was black with a yellow stripe. He was not on the trail, off to the side, and was gone before we had a chance to take a picture. Otherwise, a great hike.

Trail looked really pretty, great trail to take kids on because it is flat and very well kept. Week day means parking was easy. Water running under the bridge half way was only slightly above freezing, which made for a very interesting thing to show the kids.

Easy quick stretch-your-legs walk with nice mountain views and the peaceful blue pond. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here unless I was stopping to break up a drive along I-90.

Took our friends from out of town here for an intro to our mountains. Our party of 6 included a 2.5 yo and a 1 yo baby (in a baby carrier). My 2.5 yo was able to walk the paved / boardwalk loop by himself. Parking lot got full around noon when the lunch crowd came with their picnics. There were a few mosquitoes and we came away with a few bites but I suppose it wasn't too bad. Great day out to enjoy the weather!
