Hiked this lovely trail for the first time today.  The creek at the beginning is running high, but you can skitter across on a narrow log, or using the rocks.  The leaves are just coming into full color, and the canopy keeps you pretty dry unless there's a very heavy rain.  There are a couple downed trees across the path to scramble around and a little mud in a few places.  There are also birds, pretty little waterfalls, and a fantastic view of the valley at the top.

I arrived at the trailhead around 8 AM and was the only car there. Thanks to friends of Haybrook Ridge and Snohomish County Parks for building this gem! It beat my expectations. The trail is great and you can't get lost, and has easy switchbacks to the top. I had the trail to myself, and enjoyed the amazing views at the top for about an hour in the wonderful sunshine. I even saw some wild daisies still blooming at the ridge. Confused flowers? I did see two hikers going up as I descended, but that was it. My MapMyHike clocked 3.1 miles roundtrip. I hiked Heybrook Lookout afterwards since it was so close.

This was a pretty quick, fun hike. We spontaneously decided to hike this trail somewhat late in the day. We encountered probably 4 or 5 others on their way down. It's a very easy and short hike and pretty rewarding for what it is. The trailhead is right next to the town of Index. I don't recall any obstacles in the trails or anything. The views were pretty spectacular of the mountains that were recently sprinkled with snow, especially once the sun started to set and the skies changed colors, the valley looked great. The only thing that I didn't exactly enjoy were the power lines. I knew we weren't deep into the mountains or anything, but it was slightly interruptive to hear the constant buzzing, and not only that but there was a visible road for utility workers or UTVs and stuff. But that aside, it was a pretty decent hike especially for what it is! Easy, short, closeby! There's a nice little sitting area at the end of the trail, cute spot to have a snack. We had the area to ourselves so it was a nice... until we saw a little UTV drive by down below!

This makes for a perfect short day hike. I got to the trailhead around 3 pm and made it to the top by 3:45. The view at the top is beautiful and there is a nice little spot to eat lunch and sit in the sun. This hike would be great to take along young hikers or those who do not hike frequently. Do this hike if you don't have very much time or are just in the mood for a quick outdoor adventure with very rewarding views!
