The road up was pretty rough. There’s a large trench right where the pavement ends, so slow way down for that and/or keep left. We were in a high clearance vehicle and still had to go pretty slowly throughout. Could probably do it in a sedan, but even slower. We drove to the Rock Island campground and hiked from there. A good amount of snow on the road between the trailhead and the campground I wouldn’t want to try without 4 wheel drive and/or high clearance.
The trail is nice, just follows the river on both sides. Not a ton of variety in view, but a pleasant flat walk in the woods if you’re looking to avoid elevation but still want to hit up a trail.

Roads have some snow and one tree down block most of the road. Ground clearance on a compact car was challenging a few times. Decent ruts, pot holes, and washboard roads. Trail had some snow. It was easy to traverse just following in other people’s footsteps.
