It was perfect day for a hike up Icicle Ridge in Leavenworth. The sun was shining, the breeze was steady and cool, the flowers were bursting forth everywhere and there were no bugs (not even ticks)! This trail is nicely built and maintained. It has a very gradual slope with lots of switchbacks. You do cross one small stream, but it's near the trailhead. After that, there is no water, but with intermittent shade from trees you get some respite from the sun. All the way to the top you have a views of the Icicle Creek valley and once you reach the top, you have a great view over the ridge and down to the Wenatchee River Valley and Highway 2. From the terminus of the ridge you can look straight down to the town of Leavenworth. The flowers were the highlight (especially the bold and beautiful balsam root), but we were also rewarded with a displaying male, grouse.
