We were in the area, and decided to take the state park loop to add on to our morning hike at Hidden Lake.  We parked in the sno-park area and bought a day pass at the automatic machine.  The bathrooms by the lake were open, stocked, and warm.  We took the loop clockwise, and enjoyed the views along the way of the lake, the river/creek, and the forested area.  This would be a great place for a beginning snowshoe trip or for young kids.  A few ups and downs, but plenty of flat, and plenty to see.  We were on the trail for over an hour and saw only two other people on a holiday-weekend-Saturday afternoon.  There were more people by the sled hill and the lake, but the snowshoe trail was empty.

We went at about 3:00 - the parking lot was packed. (We should’ve come much earlier!). We had hoped to snow shoe but the trails were cut and well packed so we opted for just a hike from the southern part toward the northern part. It was a lovely hike and very few people were in the trail, which was surprising since there were so many around the lake.

We went out for a casual morning walk/easy hike on the south side of the park. It got to a point (literally a corner point where there’s a fork in the river) where the trail was completely gone. The trails that do exist are pleasant and easy to navigate. It was very nice for a peaceful and serene trek.
