Lots of downed trees from the storm a couple weeks back. Most of the trail was clear except the east trail. I ran the equestrian trails.

Trail was in good condition despite the heavy rain. Found a lot of color in the trees still.

Beautiful trail with gentle ups and downs. The ferns were stunning in the evening light. There was a bit of mud in places.

Early morning hike before breakfast to get the juices flowing.

If you don’t already know about this park, it’s open for day use 9a-4p during the off season. You either need to park in the small lot on the road near the entrance or just inside the gates as they open those sometimes.

Kind of a local secret spot in a way since I don’t think the park service advertises that it remains open year round. For that reason it’s a great place to be among the trees and the mist and have it mostly to yourself

Great hike, the forest felt refreshing and a kindda an ecobubble in the middle of nowhere
