We traveled to this trail today to escape the rain that was in our area. :) The Old Growth Trail was very nice! It was still a bit muddy, but very doable. I had planned on making a comment on which way to turn to stay on trail at one point, but while we were having lunch we saw a new sign/indicator being delivered to take care of this issue. :) The trail seemed less than 2 miles, but not having a distance tracker I can't say for sure.

The park itself is mostly a campground area. Nice, with lots of facilities and things for kids to do. Even an extra trail they have named as Trail of the Deer. It seems to be meant as an interpreter trail, but we liked the extra hike and it has many loop options. There was 1 tree down across this trail, but it was easily overcome. Having a map definitely would have been nice though. No good map on either trails starting points.

I'm guessing in total we hiked somewhere around 5 miles total. My kids and mom were whooped, I need to help us all get back into shape, lol.

On the way back from Packwood, WA today we stopped off at Lewis and Clark State Park. The state park is laced with easy, meandering trails that roam amongst the old growth cedars and Doug firs.  One short muddy section required a little balance to cross.  There are many loops in this trail network so if you can find a map online I recommend you bring it with you.  No trail maps were found at the TH.
