One of our favorite places on earth, never crowded, tough to get too since it is over an hour away from the freeway but the lower falls campground is always a great place to stay and allows you to listen to the lower falls at night, while accessign the others during the day. An easy hike we did it this time just before dinner ... more of a "blaze through the woods" really as we put the boots on, grabbed our hydrobottles and just smoked it to the upper falls. Took a few pics, stopped by the middle falls and then climbed on and below the lower falls for a while. If you havent been - go. There really are no words to describe it. Happy Trails!

We started at the lower falls trailhead and hiked to the end of the trail meeting with the paved forest service road and the Quartz Creek Trailhead. We were the first car in the parking lot at about 8:00am and when we returned the parking lot was beyond capacity. We hiked beyond the middle and upper falls. There is a detour around to the middle falls which adds some distance, but not much. The upper falls were gorgeous and secluded. There is one more waterfall after the upper falls but they are not accessible as the trail climbs above the falls. Photo tip: If you want a nice picture of the lower falls without a swarm of people, arrive early to the trailhead. Overall a great morning hike, put in 10 miles before lunch time. We hiked 10 miles in 3 hours. Happy Trails!

I have been trying to check out the Lewis River Falls are for a while so I made time. Took my 14 year old son and our Aussie dog for the day. About a 1.5 hour drive from Woodland off I-5. There was a section of gravel road a few miles from the Lower Falls Recreation Area where road was damaged but not a problem. We hiked from the Lower Falls day use area to the Quartz Creek Trail Head and back. Estimating a 6 to 6.5 mile round trip. Made the trip on a Tuesday in hopes to miss the crowds. Started out around noon. Accept the fact that this is not a secluded area and you will be sharing space. That said we had moments to ourselves at each of the water falls along the trail. Met probably about a dozen groups of hikers along the path. Trails were in great shape. The Lower Falls was amazing. Still lots of water coming down. Took off up to middle falls. The path is wide and well maintained in this area. Enjoyed walking the ridge along the rivers edge. Keep your eyes open for large old growth trees mingling along the trail. Groves of maple, cedar, hemlock, and fir take turns surrounding you. Rock faces and overhangs along the trail also added landscape diversity. Now a part of the trail to Middle Falls from the lower is damaged so a detour is set up along Lewis River Trail 31 that returns to forest road 90. It bypasses the damage and you can come down from the upriver side. Adds a litte time and distance but no big deal. If you continue past the Upper Falls a forth waterfall can be found called Taitnapum Falls. A little bonus. A great day hike with very gradual climbs and good trails. Plenty of opportunities to explore off trail too. Will go back and try out the rest of the Lewis River Trail down to Curly Creek next time. Oh and the dog enjoyed it too, maybe cause he got a taste of jerky.

This was a Beautiful hike! A Lot of people at Lower Falls then a few less at Middle Falls and then even fewer at Upper Falls. By the time we hiked around each waterfall a little bit and back it was 9.57miles but was well worth it!

The drive out to the trailhead was great, as the NF90 is paved 90% of the way. The trailhead is clearly marked from the road and easy to find. We started at the Lower Lewis River Falls trailhead which places you almost immediately at the falls. The falls are gorgeous and easy to navigate down to. From there we followed the trail to Lewis River Trail #31 which took us to both the Middle and Upper Falls. The trail is in pretty good condition, with the exception of the stretch near the upper falls (the trail is somewhat rocky, but easy to navigate). It takes a little climbing to get to the Upper Falls section, but the climb is well worth it. We had a family behind us, and they had no trouble managing the climb down to the falls. We did not hike further to the last falls listed on the hike, mostly because we got such a late start. Otherwise, this hike is well worth the effort to get there with a scenic drive to boot! Would definitely recommend this hike to anyone beginning or experienced!
