There was no snow or ice today! The trail is well marked and easy to follow (even with the detour). The trail was very water logged and had many streams and puddles so bring great waterproof boots! We parked at the campground in the day use area. We didn’t see anyone else on the hike which seems super rare these days.

Got an early start and headed to Lewis River Falls. There is absolutely no reception out there so be sure you get a good look at the directions. We used google maps with the WTA link and it said we reached our destination about 3 or 4 miles before the trailhead. I knew we were looking for the Lower Falls Rec area so we pushed on and found the trailhead with no problem. FR 90 is mostly paved and good for any car. There are a few dips and bumps and a stretch of dirt road With potholes that didn’t cause any trouble. 
The Lower Falls lot is open but the vault toilets are locked up for winter. It was raining cats and dogs. We just told ourselves that it would make the falls more impressive. Impressive they were! What a beautiful hike. Big trees, tons of mushrooms, smooth tread and the sound of water the whole way. 
The trail is closed right before the middle falls but don’t worry. Just follow the trail up to the middle falls parking lot and rejoin the trail from there. 
As we got closer to the upper falls, the rain got heavier. We found ourself dodging puddles and slushy snow. 
Truly the wettest I’ve been on a hike.  Good thing we had hot soup for lunch. It was exactly what we needed. 

The lower falls trailhead was open again.

The fall colors are spectacular...might be even better in another week, but then again a rain/wind storm could knock them all off too...best to go while the weather is nice :)

The ground was a little frozen around the upper trailhead section. The ground wasn't slick, but there were spots that would be after a good rain. There was one 5" diameter tree/branch down near the upper trailhead but it was easily stepped over.

Only a couple other cars in the parking lot when I went on a Tuesday. Really lovely hike, but I'd definitely keep dogs on leash near the falls, especially the upper falls. 

Definitely one of the less touched hike spots in washington. We lost GPS signal about 60 minutes before reaching the location and there were barely any signboards to indicate we were going in the right direction however, that reassured us that we were indeed going to a serene, relaxing, not so crowded spot and we could not have been more elated. Right before taking a right to lewis river, you will see an information centre (after Yale Park), try to stop by and get a map so you know you wont get lost. We were not at all disaapointed when we got to the waterfall. It was one of the best relaxing and picturesque spots and you don't have to spend a fortune to get there. Definitely bring a pair of water shoes if you plan on getting in the water

If you want a party, go on a warm summer weekend.  The lower falls are beautiful.  They also resembled Palm Beach spring break with a 100 swimmers, people back flipping off the 36 ft waterfall into the pool below, sun tanning, beers...  Everyone friendly and happy. Not a quaint quiet waterfall hike. We parked among 40+ other cars on side of road at upper falls after scraping my Honda Accord bumper a dozen times on the roller coaster 90-min drive from Randall down (50% fewer swerves and potholes back out toward Cougar).  4 mi trail from upper to middle to lower falls is mostly easy but a few steep parts and a few scenic creeks.  If you want social distancing go elsewhere— If you want a beach party, enjoy, and take dry clothes for the car ride back. No cell service +/- 60 minutes of falls. Amazingly picturesque waterfalls worth seeing sometime sooner or later.  I’ll go again some time.
