It was a great day for a hike - sunny skies. Little Bear trail has a fork at which it splits into two different trails. One to the right, is the "forest" trail (which we didn't take) and one to the left of the fork which is the "bitterbrush" trail is longer and more scenic. We took the longer trail to enjoy the scenic views of Lake Chelan and we were pleasantly surprised by the views and ease of the trail. The trail, although easy to follow, did have a bit of overgrowth. Wear long pants as there are stinging nettles which can put a damper on the hike if you happen to brush up against them. There are plenty of spots along the trail to sit on log benches and enjoy the scenery.

2.3 mile loop trail inside of the Lake Chelan State park. Entrance is behind the restroom in the RV camping area. Discover pass needed. Little Bear Trail, Chelan Washington, is a great easy loop trail that winds through dry savanna and dips through a cool pine forest. It crosses over two small brooks in the spring and fall and is a great family hike. On the way up we saw the small patch of land that caught fire a few months ago. A 12 foot by 12 foot area of charred land. Trail is in good condition. Blow downs have been removed, easy to follow.

This hike is inside Lake Chelan State Park, so Discovery Pass is needed. Trailhead is in the RV camping area, between RV campground bathrooms and site 22. 2.3 Mile loop goes through dry savanna for about 1.5 miles, with great views of Lake Chelan. Then it dips into cool pine forest. Trail is perfect for families and is very well maintained and well marked. We saw no other hiker using the trail. You never really get away from the noise of South Shore Rd. but for a lovely hike before enjoying the waters of Lake Chelan, this trail is very nice.
