I don’t have the best sense of direction and this definitely required us to have our phones out to navigate more than we would have liked. Also the dips for bikes were not my favorite (steep/slippery going down), but totally manageable.
That said, it was pretty scenery and no one was there on a Saturday morning, so we appreciated that over more popular trails.

First time here! Turning in off Little Mountain Road, we parked beyond the main lot at a small 4 car pull out farther in. There was one other car parked.
We started on one trail but opted out after realizing it was also a Mountain Bike Trail which became apparent immediately by it's gulley style swooped path. I know we were on the JulieAnn Trail and West Loop? (All hikers only trails.)
My hiking partner spotted a baby owl in a tree! What a fluffball of feathers with two big eyes. A lot of calling between it and it's hidden parent up higher in another tree. It used the branch snags on the Douglas Fir like a spiral staircase hopping up, up and even short flights up the tree, eyes still following us. :)
My hiking friend also first spotted some Ghost Pipe, just barely knuckling up out of the ground. We saw it again at least 3 more times. Super funky stuff!
And we ran into a very tall, mellow hiking man with a backpack, no shirt, high rolled up jeans and no shoes. He moved in a liquid, even manner and was very polite. He reminded my of R. Crumbs "Keep on Truckin' cartoon!
The trails were really nice! Lots of little dips up and down and along the topology. Around 2 1/2 miles?

A nice exercise/warm up hike coupled with a walk to nearby Craft Island. The trail is well made and well maintained. It traverses very nice low elevation forest. At the top there's a view to the south and a short distance away is a view to the north (skipped it due to rain).

After exploring the Darvill area of Little Mountain, we decided to take a hike there again today. We parked at the tiny parking lot off Hickok Road. It has room for 3 cars if you park right. Today someone was parked in a way that only would let 2 cars park there. The Darvill Trail has become one of our favorite places to hike at Little Mountain. Lots of bridges, boardwalks and stairs. From there we went on Up Quick, walked to road to Lazboy, then down to Cairn, sidekick and the nature trail before looping around and heading back the way we came. 5.34 miles total, 1,100 feet of elevation gains. It was quite the adventure and perfect weather. 2 trees down on Lazboy, one is more difficult to get over than the other. And with all the rain lately, Lazboy was the wettest.
