Beware of: trail conditions

Fun training hike to keep the legs in shape, even when it is miserable outside. There were a few sections of trail that were pretty muddy, but nothing that a pair a hiking boots couldn't handle. The weather was misting on and off throughout the day, which meant we probably ran into less than a dozen people the entire trek. Everyone we did run into was pretty friendly and familiar with the park. Good thing, too, because there are dozens of trails or trail starts to explore, but without a map or some direction you might be wondering around for a while aimless.

Wanted to get in a walk/hike while the sun was out today but did not want to encounter snow so this was great. Very easy, doesn't require a park pass. Saw small children as well as seasoned people on the trails. I wanted to get up to the View Peak and the signs and all were pretty confusing. A nice guy on the trail said to use google.maps.com which helped a lot as most of the trail names are actually listed. I only walked about 6-7 miles of the trails but it was very relaxing and had some lovely sights.

Spent the day out at Lord Hill Park in Snohomish to get out of the house on a beautiful day. When you want a low elevation alternative to the crowds in the snowy mountains, Lord Hill should be on your list. There are several loop & distance options and trails for all ages and ability levels. Today I walked out to Beaver Pond, followed the Pipeline Trail to Temple Pond, and hiked up to the main viewpoint off the Pipeline Cutoff Trail. There are several new trails at Lord Hill and today I discovered one that appears to navigate around the previously inaccessible south and west sides of Temple Pond. None of the new trails are on any of the maps around the park but are signed. All things considered, the trails are in really good shape right now save for a little mud in some areas that have thawed. There is some ice and hoar frost on the trails as well but nothing that would limit accessibility. There were lots of people out enjoying the trails this afternoon. I also noticed a sizeable amount of litter that I hauled out and disposed of at the trailhead. Leave no trace.
