Seeing that it was gorgeous today, I decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and mark this hike off my bucket list. The ascent was steep as expected, and there were small pockets of snow near the summit. Much of the trail is shaded, which I appreciated on such a sunny day. I found crampons to be helpful for my footing, but you could definitely make it to the top without them. Although my legs were screaming at me throughout the trek, the spectacular views were more than worth the effort! The way down was more difficult in my opinion due to all the navigation required around the roots and rocks, so make sure to take your time.
Of note, it is easy to get sidetracked off the main trail, so definitely be on the lookout for the white diamond trail markers. Total time was a little under five hours (I consider myself a relatively fit person) with two unexpected detours and a few breaks.

No snow on the old trail until the boulder field and very minimal at that. Brought microspikes but didn’t end up using them, just stuck to the rock where able. Trekking poles were useful for navigating the few patches of snow left. Felt like spring hiking conditions today.

Lots of rain and wind today, but the rest of the week looks quite nice.
Patchy snow from where the new and old trails join. Half the boulder field is snow-free. The snow was slushy all the way to the peak. I wore spikes and appreciated them but most did not use them. A couple deep patches but gaiters were not necessary.
