TH @ The Storm King Ranger Station.

Storm King has been on my hit list for YEARS.. We got up at 3am and headed out to the Olympic Peninsula, arrived around 730am and there was ample parking.
Arrived back to car around 1230, and cars where all along the
parking lot etc.

I loved the slow start to this hike, a nice little joint along the river and into the flats around some old and second growths.

Once onto to Storm King trail,
this hike is definitely a burner, but not terrible. I felt it was comparable to Rattlesnake, but with the addition of the rope section and the summit. Highly advise an early start, as the top is not very big, and I would assume navigating the rope section would get dicey both ways with high traffic.

We brought gloves and were so glad to have them, especially on the way down. There were areas of loose dirt and rock, poles were helpful overall up and on the way back down on the maintained trail.
We made friends with a group of people along the rope section, as you do when you're waiting along the side of a mountain holding on to ropes, trying not to look down LOL.

The views at the top were breathtaking, and I'm glad we made it up there on such a beautiful day.

We enjoyed this hike very much and had enough left in us to tack on Marymere Falls afterward.

The bathrooms were well maintained. We saw a good amount of cars in the lot but we didn’t pass many groups on Storm King.

The maintained portion of the trial is well kept. After that you hit the ropes. Beautiful view along the trail. We brought gloves which came in handy. The ropes were in good condition, the trail was slick with the dust and dirt. Well worth the view at the top!

Flowers on trail: Coast Indian Paintbrush, Calypso Orchids, Oregon Grape, Forget-Me-Not

Make sure to check out Lake Crescent after, the water is clear as glass!

Parking lot was full Monday at 11am when we arrived.. The trail was a lot of elevation in a short amount of time but the view was beautiful. There were some really pretty Calypso orchids out and the Madrona trees were blooming. The ropes were fine but wish I had some gloves for the way down…rope burn! Great to finish and take a nice cold dip in Cresent lake.

Challenging but gorgeous hike. Trail was quite busy, so if going anytime after mid morning be prepared to wait at the ropes section and to share the summit with quite a few people.

The Storm King trail is clear and free all the way to the top. Views were better from just beyond the end of maintained trail sign -- the top was socked in. The rope section was wet and loose rock, I recommend good footwear for that last section especially for coming down.
