Trail has some mud at bottom and near the top. One 15-18" tree across the trail just before the halfway point, easy to get over. Parking area just off the highway by the closed gate is very muddy and without any restrooms(per usual). We like to come down the road to save the one good knee I have left. One big tree across entire road on the last mile coming down.

Trail is in great shape. Only a single blow down that is able to be stepped over. The gate is still closed and this hike clocks at about 4.5 miles total with the added walk to the trail head. Parking is limited at the road turn out, maybe can fit 10 cars. Got there around 1030a and found a spot with no issue.

My first hike up Mt. Walker. Its as steep as advertised but on this clear day it is worth the squeeze. I was happy that the trail is so remote from the road to the top. I heard no cars while hiking. The view is legendary and the workout is top notch. Consider a change of shirt for the walk down as you will sweat through the one you wore climbing up.
cheers

This trail is kept in excellent condition, practically manicured. Well, ok, there are a few roots and rocks along the way, but it get so much traffic and attention that it is a fine walk year around. There is no water on the trail so bring some with you. Its a steady grind to the top but when the weather is clear there is a nice view of the eastern Olympics, a picnic bench at the top to sit down on, and other places to rest at the summit. Fall colors are minimal still, will be better in October. No berries now, no bugs either.
If you want more seclusion on a busy weekend, check out the trail up Elbo Creek, just south of the Walker summit off the Rocky Brook Road. Its very close by, shady, the grade is less steep and practically nobody goes there.
