Great place for young kids to get outside. 1.4 mile looped easy hike around Deep lake with playground. They are improving the trail to crushed rock (very nice).

I have been a a frequent visitor of this trail and this park for years and I absolutely love it here. The trail is a perfect loop to take a walk or do a quick jog on. The trail is always very well maintained all throughout the year. The loop is pretty flat, perfect to walk with kids and/or dogs. Deep Lake is beautiful as well. It is a great place to take a paddle board or a kayak out on or even take a swim. I decided to do two quick loops around the lake this morning to get a couple miles logged for the hike-a-thon before work. I got to the park at 9:30 am and there were just a few cars in the parking lot. A Discovery Pass is required to park in the parking lot and there is a self-register there to purchase a pass. But, a lot of people park out on the street outside of the park where a pass is not required, but that parking fills up fast on nice days. We ran into a couple people on our loops, probably about four different groups. It was really a great way to spend some time in nature before work. Overall, Nolte State Park is one of my favorite places to visit.

Took the new pup fishing and spent more time walking the trails round the lake. As for the bugs jut little gnats that don't hurt anything. Good training trail for the pup.

The Nolte State Park trail is a well-shaded maintained trail just under 1.5 miles and follows the shores of Deep Lake. We hiked this on a cool day with our 19-month-old in a Deuter kid carrier backpack. It was lovely for a short, super easy hike or trail walk. The trail is well maintained, wide, and minimal elevation gain; it is and suitable for trail strollers. Preschoolers could easily walk this in a kid-led hike. We passed quite a few families with kids and dogs alike. There is a small playground at the trailhead that allows your little ones to burn off any leftover energy after the hike--or, in our case, before the hike so that she would tolerate the backpack! Great place for families with small kids who want to do an easy, quick and shaded hike.
