The Nolte State Park trail is a well-shaded maintained trail just under 1.5 miles and follows the shores of Deep Lake. We hiked this on a cool day with our 19-month-old in a Deuter kid carrier backpack. It was lovely for a short, super easy hike or trail walk. The trail is well maintained, wide, and minimal elevation gain; it is and suitable for trail strollers. Preschoolers could easily walk this in a kid-led hike. We passed quite a few families with kids and dogs alike. There is a small playground at the trailhead that allows your little ones to burn off any leftover energy after the hike--or, in our case, before the hike so that she would tolerate the backpack! Great place for families with small kids who want to do an easy, quick and shaded hike.
