Trail in great condition.  Did the hike with 2 adults, 2 kids (4yo walking, 1yo in backpack). Lots of tiny young frogs hopping around the path at the start of the trail.  moderate amount of mosquitoes here and there.  The river was a nice place to have a snack and throw some rocks.

All in all, quite pleasant and good level of challenge for young kids.

My wife has a bad hip and this was the perfect hike for her.  As we started out CCW around the trail, for about 1/4 mile, the trail seemed to be covered by large bugs or flies.  Closer inspection revealed them to be tiny frogs about 1/4 inch square, so numerous you had to watch where you were putting your feet.  Going CCW around the lake proved to be a good choice as the elevation loss was very gradual and the elevation regain at the end was shorter and steeper and would've been harder to handle going down with a bad hip.

Easy and fun afternoon/evening walk. Bugs weren’t near as bad as others said.

Hiked with two 7-year-olds and were pleased with the conditions and the length of the hike - perfect for our outing.  We were welcomed by thousands of tiny baby frogs all along the first part of the trail.  The middle section we dubbed Banana Slug alley and the last section was filled with wild flowers.
