Got to head up here today for a nice late weekday adventure. Drive up was great, and weather was gorgeous. The fall colors are definitely exploding up there, with gorgeous gradients in a lot of the plants.
Trail area itself is in great shape, and was a little bit busy, but not bad at all. Path is we even and we’ll paved, so it is indeed perfect for a good “stretch your legs” walk.
Being this high up, especially at this time of year, even if it’s a day in the 70s down by the sound, the temps will be noticeably lower up here, so do make sure to bring at least a comfy hoodie or something along those lines.
Also, if you are lacking a NW Forest Pass, i’d recommend stopping at the nice USFS Service Station in Glacier, you can pick up 1,2, and 3 day passes from the machine outside or an annual one in the gift shop.

Nice, quick, and easy hike around Picture Lake. Saw lots of kids playing on the trail and having a good time. Trail is short, paved, and absolutely accessible for all ages. 100% worth the extra bit of time it takes to pull off the road for the beautiful view you'll get about a quarter of the way around the lake.
