Walked the Redmond Watershed full loop on this post "stormageddon" Sunday afternoon. Starting at the north parking lot off NE 133rd St, we walked counter clock wise down Trillium past the north pond all the way to the south parking lot, took a side trip to the treefrog pond then back up "pipeline", right on Siler's Mill then back around to the parking lot on Collin Creek trail. I was anticipating forest carnage after our double barreled storm but instead found virtually no blowdown save for a couple doug firs down across the "Trillium Trail about midway down the watershed. They might be an issue with equestrians but they are easily crossed by the average walker. No other trail issues. There was quite a bit of wildlife out today, a turtle sunning itself in the southern pond, little native Brown squirrels all over, a fair number of mushrooms popping up from the recent rains. The vine maples are lovely decked out in their blazing fall colors. A nice, close in, walk in the woods. http://www.redmond.gov/cms/one.aspx?pageId=4175

Love this trail, close to home, well maintained! There are several trails and loops so you can decide how long to be out!

My second hiking trip since I moved to Seattle a couple of weeks ago! I was looking for a peaceful place to run, and this seemed to be a short drive to a quiet spot. I ran the Trout loop first - the terrain was a little bumpy and I missed the informative signs! I should've walked it. I moved to the Trillium Trail, which branched off into the Old Swamp trail. There was a nice scenic overlook but I didn't stop because there was a family having a picnic or something and I felt weird invading. In retrospect I should've bombed the picnic for my Snapchat story. Just kidding! I linked up with the Pipeline Trail after Trillium and ran into a couple of groups where I had to ask about a Trillium times for them to please scootch and let me pass - I ended up having to run on the edge of the forest (my mom says I need to be more assertive). Most people were really nice and let me pass. There were a few horses and lots of horse poop. It was very pretty and serene but not breathtakingly so, which I consider perfect for running. The restrooms were clean and it was nice to have drinking water. I squeezed about 5 miles into the whole trip, including the Trout Loop.

Just a quick 4 miles before work to start my Hike-a-thon. I also grabbed some geocaches on the way. Only saw a few people and some deer. I was told by a fellow hiker that she saw a bear with her cubs last week in the Watershed. The trails are very well maintained and once you are far enough into the watershed it is hard to believe it's in the middle of Redmond.
