Generally a pretty nice hike. There was a lot of horse poop in some areas and also bugs around it. Not too much of a problem though, just slightly annoying. One area does have a lot of dragonflies, so you just need to watch out when you go through there. There were also slugs and caterpillars on the trail sometimes so you should probably watch your step! I saw a lot of spring/summer plants and they were very pretty. There were especially a lot of foxglove in bloom. Saw and heard a lot of birds and squirrels, which was cool. Did get a bit turned around about halfway through, though that's probably just me being bad at reading maps. I would recommend this hike for anyone who wants to see a lot of nature and enjoys the woods.

Beautiful morning in the preserve. Come early for some gorgeous birdsong and enjoy these sunlight coming through these huge trees. I didn’t see many bugs or horse poop reference in other reports. Poop must have been cleaned and probably bugs are a later in the day thing. Great way to start your day! Highly recommend.

I had a decent time, I would rate it 3/5 stars, the bugs were pretty bad, I should of brought some bug spray, they were a nuisance. I did the long loop and it was great on the hiker only trails, except when you are on the shared trails with the horse people there is a lot of poop which was not great. It was not too scenic, there was a nice pond but it was just icky looking, and I did see two blacktail deer grazing, but there were no breathtaking views. It was a lot of forest and I probably will not run this one again, but I would recommend it to someone getting into hiking or someone elderly as it was flat and very walkable.

Quick walk around the Redmond Watershed trails Sunday morning before the rain showed up. Parking is free and fairly plentiful at both the main southern lot and the northern lot. Full restrooms were open and in great condition at the southern lot, no facilities at the northern lot. One reminder, pets are not allowed so if fido goes wherever you do this is not the best option. The trails are in great condition save for a couple recent blow downs, one fairly large, but neither present a blocking problem and all the older storm damage from late last year has long been cleaned up (though it is interesting to see just how much was blown down back then.) One slight cautionary note - much of the trail has piles of pony doody which is to be expected but a couple did not appear to be horse related and I’m 90% sure they were fresh bear scat. We didn’t see or hear any other sign or tracks so take it for what it’s worth.
Lots of spring flowers out now, salmonberry, red currant, bleeding heart plus hundreds of pacific trillium scattered around the forest floor. A word of caution - never pick trillium flowers as local lore confirms for every one you pick you give your mother bursitis and eleven and a half weeks of bad luck. The forest was full of beautiful bird call this morning as well. Additionally there were a number of little brown Douglass Squirrels out eating breakfast. One final quick note - there was a group of younger families out with their kids and one little boy just could not adequately express his excitement over seeing one, then another and another banana slug on the trail with his shouts “hey! Hey guys, a banana slug!” at the top of his lungs joining the bird calls floating through the trees, really made folks smile.. A super nice little walk particularly if you want to see a bunch of trillium or banana slugs.
