Spruce Railroad Trail along the north shore of Lake Crescent is an excellent day hike. Road to parking in good shape, signed. Parking lot available. Signboard with information and maps. Trail in excellent condition to through first railroad tunnel. Surveying markers indicate future development of trail. Trail beyond first tunnel is in good shape, some tree fall and mud but passable.
Hiking along trail gives wonderful viewing opportunities across the lake and Storm King and nearby mountains. Water views are excellent. History of trail is worth studying. The second tunnel gives a chance to scramble through rock detritus. Stop and have lunch along Lake's edge.

Spruce Railroad Trail was in great condition and great to see! Lots of new growth trees and beautiful trails. I ended up starting the hike before the actual trailhead and so didn’t make it all the way through the actual trail. Although we didn’t make it, we heard about the tunnels and bridges over Cresent Lake that are beautiful! We were able to see great views of the lake while walking along a flat, well-maintained trail.
