First time here.  A nice urban park with plenty of forest to ramble through.  Looked like a great place to take kids, either to ride a bike on the miles of paved trail, or to walk through the woods.  I would not recommend the Swan Creek Trail that descends to the creek for children under eight.  Not because it is difficult, but because it looks like an easy trail for a distracted six or seven year old to trip and go tumbling down the steep slope next to the trail.

Three of us took our working dogs out for a day of enrichment on the Swan Creek trail. The weather was beautiful! We walked 1.15 miles out from the Pioneer Way parking lot and the trail was clear. I know WTA just did a work party at the park last week so was expecting it to be good. There were a couple of spots where the brushing could be better, but all in all, it was a nice walk. There were some gnats and mosquitos out, but they weren't too bad.

It's been about a year or so since I last walked this trail and I was really happy to see that someone had come through and cleaned up a lot of the old tires and debris that used to litter the area. Not sure if that was WTA or someone else, but it really makes a difference!

Quiet day at Swan Creek - saw one other guy with two dogs on the lower trail. Saw a few bikers on the mountain bike trails. A few blow downs have been removed recently - two others can be stepped over on the lower trail. There is a landslide at the connector trail with canyon rim at the spot to go up to the community garden.

some graffiti and litter, but overall well maintained and easy to follow trail.

Perfect mellow day hike through small wildlife sanctuary in Tacoma suburbs. Hiked across the creek from Pioneer Way Park trail heading up along the western ridge overlooking the creek. Around 3mi in the woods start to get thick enough to make you forget your in the suburbs until you arrive at the Swan Creek community gardens just N of the massive maze of MTB trails in the Swan Creek Pump Track. Overall an excellent day trip for any season.
