This was a nice leg stretcher and so short we decided to do it twice. :) The trail had two recent blowdowns that might make trail running or walking a dog a litle challenging but they were minor inconveniences to an ordinary hiker.

A stroll in the park. We were actually looking for the Cable Route to West Tiger 3, but didn't and settled. Parking: At the end of the paved road, there is a small free parking lot, and more people park along the road. A short trail (0.3 miles) to the left of the gravel road will take you to the official trail head. If you have a Discover Pass, you can drive on the gravel road straight to the trail head. Parking is prohibited along the gravel road. Hiking: Easy loop around the lake. We started on West Tiger 3, and soon turned onto the BUS trail, there is an abandoned bus a short distance down the road, and then we reached Tradition Lake trail via the Connector. We walked all the way down to the lake shore and were just in time to see a batch of 20? geese? landing in water, which is pretty cool. Note: One of the fence pieces on the viewing platform is broken. For most of the trail you remain in the forest, it's comfortable but it also means no interesting views. The Puget Power road back to the parking lot is boring, and you will be directly in the sun's light. Friday Morning 8:30 ~ 9:30 am, complete solitude.

With a promise of a full moon, mostly clear skies, the weather being warmer and the days getting longer we decided to try this hike. it was a beutiful evening for a mid week evening hike. The trail is in excellent condition. We got some views of the lake along the trail. There were geese playing in the water. It was sooo pretty. We went along the bus road and took some pics. We found solitude and enjoyed the sounds of nature. It was a great little hike.

Tradition Lake Loop — Nov. 24, 2012

Did a quick loop around from the Tradition Plateau trailhead, around the south side of the lake, then up to Section Line trail which had a little 600' gain. Very soggy leaves, crisp air, one blowdown, lake is kinda ho-hum and the freeway noise is a bit loud for a while. Bring waterproof shoes if you plan on coming out after a rain. I want to go back and explore above Section Line trail for more gains. Definitely a quick hike considering its so close to the city and not many people on the trail really. Had a nice little waterfall on Talus Rock trail that we went on enroute back to the parking lot.
