We parked at the trailhead, which has restrooms. There is an interpretive sign by the kiosk with historical info that would have been nice to see before heading over the bridge. Pros: Trail was dry. It is a wide path. We saw a few wildflowers and birds. Cons: shrubs and small trees along the old pipeline route trail blocked most views of the River and canyon. At .5 miles there was a creek running down the trail and blocking it, where there was an old concrete structure. Possibly children and younger folks than us could have scrambled around or walked through the creek, but we didn’t. All in all pretty disappointing.

Wet! About a quarter of a mile up the trail it is very wet, with water running like a creek down the trail. Only hike this trail this early in the season (May 1) if you either don't mind wet feet or have waterproof shoes that are at least ankle-high.

Fun rock and water obstacles to challenge the kids! Easy creek crossing over a rock bridge, but watch your step or end up with a shoe-full of cool water :)
Bonus was the sandy beach that we had to ourselves to watch the rushing water up close.
