My pal J.Mings and I started this hike a bit later in the day on a Monday (1:30p). It was a blue sky Seattle day, 70 degrees. The road to the trail is ideal--about 400 yards of gravel until you hit the trail on the left. Know that the bathrooms are closed due to Covid but please pack in and out your toilet paper as there are a ton of left behind personals behind the bathrooms.
The trail is 8 miles round trip that I clocked---shaded in most areas but glimpses of sun every now and again. The first two miles entail a wider trail and it isn't until after these miles that you hit steep, narrow stairs. The stairs are in great condition--easily accessible for children and older adults alike.
Make sure you're wearing a mask because the stairs are narrow and passing people happens frequently on such a popular and well-maintained trail. There are a few places to sit at the lake to eat and jump in, although I would recommend water shoes as the ground is rocky and filled with scraps of sticks.
Overall, an ideal and might I say--serene experience.
J.Mings and B.Rock recommended and approved.
