Lots of trails still closed from the fire. Only able to go up the half mile go ponytail (upper horse tail) falls, still worth the trip. Decided to squeeze this hike in late in the afternoon. The plunge pool at horsetail was hopping at 5:30 pm.

The hike up felt a little rough due to the heat and exposed trail but it was short enough that it was fine. Made pretty good time to ponytail falls where we had the plunge pool to ourselves. Spent some time just enjoying the shade from the cliff and playing in the water. If you looked closely you could smoke marks at the back of the cave.
