I was keen to do an early season refresh of my snow camping skills & strategy so I headed out for a quick overnight... a mid-day start on a gloomy Friday meant plenty of parking...shoe prints (yaktrak prints) on the trail noted another couple on the trail. I got to hike up & snowshoe back the next morning - nice diversity :). the lake is barely mostly frozen (so I'd recommend staying clear of walking on/near it for a bit yet). I got camp set up, wandered around the lake some. was delighted with a stunning sunset! then time for melting snow, dinner & snuggling in for some reading. I knew snow would likely start lightly overnight & increase in the morning, but I was surprised that when I crawled out of my tent around 7.30am I found almost a foot of new snow...so it was great to get an early season snowshoe in as I headed out...winter is such a wonderful time to be outdoors. at the bottom of the trail/in the car park there was 2-4 inches of the fresh fluffy magic.
