Snow

Intermittent snow - not hard to cross

Perfect day to pick this little well-built trail. My daughter has been chomping at the bit to get to the snow and of course I wanted to make a hike out of it. Snow is 5-7" so just enough for a snowball fight, snow angels, and making a little snowman. This is a great short lollipop loop with three side branches to picnic tables: two with views of Garfield Mountain and the other of Russian Butte...on a clear day! There's also another branch with steps down to the river bar where we played at the water's edge for quite a while. Completing the trail, we even managed a short sled run back at the parking lot. Snow fell the whole time but was especially heavy right as we left at 1:00 PM. As usual, I wish there was a 'Trail snow covered - no gear or expertise required' option.  The road was easy to drive but go slow due to potholes between where the CCC Road and CCC Trails take off. Win-win!
