My husband and I did a quick sprint up Iron Bear for sunset to soak in the break in the rain today. Overall, the road was in great condition until the last 1/8th of a mile or so where there’s a small creek crossing that our Outback handled well, but might give lower cars a bit of trouble. The trail was in impeccable shape, with plenty of balsamroot and paintbrush (among others I don’t know) blooming! We didn’t stay too long at the top due to the cold wind, but enjoyed the views of Stuart and the Temple. No Tahoma today sadly! On the way down, we spotted a huge bear on the hillside across the basin, validating our choice to call out throughout the hike, knowing we were the only ones on the mountain. Nothing surprising, but always good to be aware! Overall, a great quick hike to refresh us this week and prep our legs for backpacking season 💚

Great report! I was there that morning and felt silly for carrying bear spray! 😀
