As an update to the trip report from May 24, all the blowdown trees across the trail have been removed except for one that is holding up the rootball uphill of the trail just before the Port Angeles overlook. This is about 3.5 up the trail and at 4500 feet of elevation. The trunk is 14 inches in diameter. One can get over by sitting on it and lifting your legs over.
There are some wildflowers emerging as you approach Heather Park. I saw spreading phlox, Olympic violet, some kind of paintbrush and western globe flower. More flowers will appear soon. There were also a few fairy slipper orchids lower on the trail.
The only campsite that is fully melted out in the one on the right just as you enter Heather Park. The stream is accessible as a water source.
